Saying Hello!

I know! It’s been awhile, right?

I decided to take the summer off. Lots of folks do that.

But then, just today I looked at my calendar and it’s October already.

Oops!

The last time I published a blog post here, we were saying goodbye to our good friend, Hoka–the smartest dog in the universe.

She had passed away from a stroke on January 14 of this year. It was a hard time.

Then, on July 23rd we said hello to another smartest dog in the universe!

Meet Kimber, a two-year old German shepherd/Malinois mix with enough adrenaline circulating to power a trip to Mars and back. Suffice it to say, we are trying our best to keep up with this smart, funny, powerhouse of dog flesh. She has adjusted well to our lifestyle, has the run of our fenced two acres, and plays catch with her several balls and toys.

As I am drafting this blog post, we will finish up her obedience classes (or are they OUR obedience classes…the jury’s still out on that) on 10/3. It’s been fun watching her learn new commands. But sometimes we think she’s just humoring us, right?

I’ve also taken some time off from writing. Sometimes we just need to go outside and play, ya know?

Having said that, though, I’m now noodling an idea for another novel. More on that later.

Here’s hoping all of my wonderful peeps (that means you!) enjoy a glorious fall season. Time for good coffee (or tea), friends, and apple pie made from apples picked yesterday. Those are the best!
