It’s National Frog Jumping Day!
1 . . . 2 . . . 3 . . . LEAP!
What? You didn’t know?
Yes, indeed . . . today is National Frog Jumping Day. So grab your amphibian friend and get out to the starting line!
How do I know it’s National Frog Jumping Day?
I ran across this cool website when I was looking for another website–you know how that goes, right? It’s called Holidays Calendar. I’m sure it’s not the only cyberspace source for weird and obscure holidays, but it’s organized well.
Did you know there’s a holiday designated for almost every day of the year? Go figure.
Speaking of frogs, every summer we have lots of cute little tree frogs in our yard.
Here’s one:
Unfortunately, the frogs in our neck of the woods don’t dance onto the stage until a bit later into the summer. This little fellow was photographed in July or August. So, I’m thinking National Frog Jumping Day in the Pacific NW should be celebrated later in the year.
And why are we talking about this?
Well, I got to thinking . . . always a bad sign according to my family.
It’s just this: With all the confusing and chaotic news circulating in our world, we need to celebrate something every day. On some days, we don’t have to look far to find a celebration. A birthday or an anniversary, a new job or retirement. But, other days? Not so much–just the same old same old going on.
So, the next time you’re pining for something, anything to celebrate, check out the Holidays Calendar and let the fun begin! Invite the neighborhood . . . they’re probably looking for a celebration, too!
